Apr16 First Birthday Garden Bunny 2014
Today we have a first birthday party that is perfect inspiration for an easter party, it will make you melt!!! I can’t do it justice so here’s Photographer and excellent planner of this party Michele Hart to give you the details…
“Adelyn is one! Literally 12 months ago she was a quiet, cuddly baby in my arms that could barely keep her eyes open and now she is not only walking but running… and eating real food, and saying her first words, and pretending she is a momma to her baby doll. I can’t even remember what 3 months ago was like.
Some people say that spending money and time on a big birthday bash is excessive but I really like doing something extra special to mark the passage of time to celebrate Adelyn. I want her to be awe inspired and giddy with excitement all day long. And to be surrounded by warmth, love and beauty. This is what I came up with:
Adelyn loves animals – especially the soft cuddly ones – so I decided to have a garden bunny theme with lots of soft neural colors. The bunnies and balloons gave the event a playful and youthful feel but the overall tone was very sophisticated and elegant. Garden roses stole the show making appearances not only on the table but as a garland on geronimo balloons, as a cake topper, and on the back of the highchair. The “Garden Treats” menu added to the festivities and all dishes featured carrots – except for the cottontail macaroons – and provided a light lunch for our guests.
The concept and vision really came together when I started working with lana frankel on Adelyn’s invites. She did a beautiful job hand illustrating everything from the invites to the menus. Erin with plum sage brought my garden vision together with the use of beautiful garden roses and greenery to make creative vocal points for the day. calluna events worked with chairished rentals to create a simple dinner table layout to match the rest of the decor. mulberries cake shop made the tastly carrot cake and tee & cakes prepared the vanilla macaroons.”
So we’re all obsessed over the floral garland so I have the most lovely news for you, Michele Hart made it and has a really helpful tutorial on her blog which you can see HERE
Also, did you love the party hats!!! Michele Hart has a tutorial on how she made them, you can see it HERE
I am a huge Lindsey Letters fan. Have you seen her darling new line of prints and cards for baby? In. Love. I especially like the “You Are My Sunshine” canvas because it is bright and cheery and makes me think of spring (something that hasn’t quite arrived yet here in Chicago!) I crafted a mini inspiration board for baby girls based on this print. I had so much fun “shopping” and collecting pieces that reflect the same springy, happy, floral, and handwritten charm as the canvas. Do you ever find inspiration for your children’s clothing in unusual places? It can be so fun to look at things not only for what they are, but what they can be!

Jun13 Off to the Races 2013
This Horse Racing themed birthday party is so unique and fun, I’m in love. Any excuse I can have to wear an oversized hat and get dressed up, I’m in! I think my favorite detail are those little Derby Pies. Yum!
Here’s some details from the designer:
“In planning the classic 1st birthday celebration, I wanted to create a party that appealed to both adults and children. Adults love horse races and children love ponies, so what a more perfect marriage than an “Off to the Races” birthday affair? This theme became even more fabulous when held in coordination with televised coverage of some of the most popular races. Dads could watch, moms could sip sweet tea, and babies could play on their rocking horses.
We decided to mix southern favorites like derby pie and sweet tea with a modern popcorn bar. Children could be interactive in creating the perfect popcorn to-go mix with the popcorn bar. Peanuts, chocolate chips, marshmallows, peanut butter chips, and M&Ms were just a few of the endless tasty possibilities!
The table was complete with a chocolate pink rosette cake from the local grocery store. This decision kept the party affordable, put a younger twist on the classic red rose decor, and was extra messy for Ella’s cake smash. What a yummy 1st birthday for a darling little girl!”

Mar11 Mint and Peach 2013
Love the Color Palette for this baby shower, and the backdrop knocks this shower right out of the park, then to top it all off with lavender soap favors…it’s all so dazzling!
Here’s a bit from the woman who made it all happen:
“I started with a soft shades of mint and peach, and paired them with a deep eggplant, emerald green and true gold to help balance out the “baby” feel with a few sophisticated notes of color. A fine linen paper was chosen for the invitation, gift tags for the handmade lavender soap guests took with them, multi layered tags for each plate of food to identify the indgrediants, and other printed pieces used throughout the event. I created a modern backdrop using smile 2″ squares stitched together. This backdrop hung behind the food table and framed a set of gorgeous handmade wooden vases.” -Susan
