Jun10 Modern Nursery: Family Heirlooms 2013
I could probably write a thesis on this adorable nursery..but I’ll spare you. I will just say that my favorite parts of this nursery are all the family heirlooms. The dresser, crib and toy chest were all used by the dad (this is good proof that I should be a pack-rat). I also love the family tree of sorts, with photos of those who have gone before.

This Wild Boys print by Ashley Goldberg is just adorable. I love the simplicity of it, and yet she is able to capture a moment in this little boy. He reminds me of Huck Finn, a little sunburned, a lot spirited, and certainly if you could see his jeans they’d have holes and grass stains on them. This print serves as my next inspiration board, a collection of clothes and toys for the little “wild boy’ in your life.

May31 San Francisco Family 2013
Photographer Monica Roy sent us these beautiful photos taken in the family’s San Francisco home. Their nursery is decorated with really bold colors and style so that it will be the most perfect playroom for Olivia while she is growing up.

May21 Living in Small Spaces 2013
A friend of mine, Natalee Lopez posted a few pictures of her son’s nursery and I stocked her until she sent me the photos. It’s a great nursery is a small space. Here she is:
“We live in a 740 sq ft apartment and found out we were pregnant the month after we moved in! We had signed a 15 month lease so we knew we were just going to have to make this place work. We have ONE closet and a king sized bed, so it was a challenge. We converted our dresser into a changing table and utilized pegboard and baskets above it for storage of diapers and other essentials. We purchased a mini crib that eventually converts into a toddler bed and it fit perfectly into our small space. We used small shelves from IKEA next to the rocking chair to hold bed time books.”

“We wanted the over all theme of the room to be “Adventure” in hopes that our little Theodore (Teddy) would look beyond his everyday life into the world around him and seek adventure!
-The capitan bust and embroidered flower are vintage from a shop in Santa Paula run by a man named Robert who used to be an ad designer for Nordstrom in the 60′s. The shop is called “Treasure Island” and it’s located across the street from the California Oil Museum 1001 E Main St Santa Paula, CA 93060.
-The bear drawing is done by our friend Kyle Naylor, who has had some of his stuff for sale over a Urban Outfitters, but also has a personal shop
-The giraffe bust over the changing table is from Anthropologie.
-The chevron lamp shades are from Target.
-The AMAZING ship clock is Alex’s Abuelito’s. It is also a nightlight and still works!
-The mobile is handmade (by me) with a vintage embroidery hoop and painted gold stars.
-The “Adventure is Out There” plaque was made by me as well as the door hanger.
-Since we only have one closet — we decided to utilize the living room space for some storage. We purchased a wardrobe from IKEA and a LACK bookshelf from IKEA which we turned sideways and made into a storage bench for under the window. It houses some of Teddy’s toys, books, blankets, etc.”
