Jul01 Carousel Birthday Party 2013
What an adorable first birthday in a carousel theme!!! The cake with the small copper horses, the bow on the gold candle, the birthday hat…just a few of my favorite things.

How to make the carousel cake: ”I ended up buying a package of little plastic toy horses from the dollar store, and painting them gold. I then cut some cute paper straws in half, and then hot-glued the horses in the middle of the straws, so the straw was the pole. It was great, because then I could stick them right into the cake and it gave pretty good support. I then cut out paper and more fabric scraps and used double-sided tape to get the fabric to stick to the little canopy I made to go on top of the carousel. It worked out better than expected – I had no idea how it would turn out when I started cutting things out!”
