May04 Hudson Turns One 2010

A few weekends ago, we celebrated my nephew’s first birthday. He’s the first baby among my three sisters, so of course, we are absolutely enamored with him! The first birthday is obviously more a celebration for the family than anything, so we decided to have some fun with his party. My sister Hayley and I styled all sorts of paper and pom chandeliers, pennant flags, giant rosettes, and of course cupcake flags. My favorite element of our decor was the “Toy Buffet” that we set up. We had custom bags for the kids (and kids at heart) to fill up with vintage inspired toys. All the guests at the party had a blast playing with the parachute men, whirly gigs, japanese finger traps, kazoos, and the like. Here are some pictures by T & H Photography!

The cake topper was a vintage metal carousel that I picked up at the flea market.

For his chandelier, we made tissue poms, and giant rosettes. We had to order the honeycomb balls from here.

Below are the beautiful parents, Hayley and Travis.

Hudson HATED his hat. He also cried when we sang “Happy Birthday” and wailed when Hayley tried to convince him to eat cake by sticking his hands in the frosting. Oh the drama!

Once the guests left, we managed to get Hudson to enjoy a little cake!

Enjoying the spoils of birthday victory!

Hi, I stumbled across this blog while looking for decorations for my son’s 1st birthday party. I completely LOVE all of the decorations and especially the honeycomb balls. Apparently the link to where your ordered the balls isn’t working. Could you please email me that link or something? I really love those tissue balls and can’t find them in google search. Thank you.
